Data Curation Network Webinar Series: Towards Authenticity: Critical Appraisal of Data Management Plans

This workshop, geared towards program officers, will be an introduction to the many considerations of research data management and sharing, specifically around the role of data management plans (DMPs) in grant proposals. In addition to learning how to evaluate DMPs from the perspective of a data curator, attendees will learn how their roles fit into the entirety of the research data lifecycle, will learn how to balance sharing sensitive data while protecting participant privacy, and will brainstorm ways to integrate best practices for DMPs into the grant proposal process. This session will combine lecture, activities, and discussion -- attendees should come prepared to participate.

INSS 2022 Symposium: DIET AND CHRONIC UNRESOLVED INFLAMMATION: IMPLICATIONS FOR OBESITY-ASSOCIATED OUTCOMES

The Interdisciplinary Nutrition Sciences Symposium is an annual translational nutrition science conference. The theme for 2022 is Diet and Chronic Unresolved Inflammation: Implications for Obesity-Associated Complications. This conference will build on the dialogue we began in our first two symposia to develop best practices for translational nutrition science and to generate ideas for proposals and collaborative projects, which will lead public health, therapeutic, and clinical efforts to reduce obesity and its associated comorbidities.

This meeting will be at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill on July 21-22, 2022

Location:  Chapel Hill, NC, USA

NIDDK Workshop Registration Deadline: Healthy Reference Tissue and Standards Workshop

The National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases is planning a public workshop to discuss the challenges and best practices for obtaining and using healthy reference tissue as a benchmark for disease and for assessing the technical variability of imaging and -omic assays.? This workshop also will identify state-of-the-art, fit-for-purpose standards for these assays and stimulate discussion of the next generation of standards. The workshop aims to address these issues through the lens of kidney precision medicine while surfacing lessons learned from other fields and sharing solutions that could enhance all atlas-building efforts broadly.

Registration Deadline: July 22, 2022

Meeting Date: July 25, 2022 (virtual)

NIH Funding Opportunity Application Due: HEAL Initiative: Discovery and Functional Evaluation of Human Pain-associated Genes & Cells (U19 Clinical Trial Not Allowed)

The purpose of this funding opportunity announcement is to support research that uses human tissue or cells to generate comprehensive datasets for the discovery and characterization of functional genetic elements, epigenetic signatures, and molecular/cellular pathways that underlie human pain transduction, transmission, and processing. This FOA will support concerted multidisciplinary team science efforts that apply large-scale high-throughput approaches on tissues involved in human pain processing as part of the NIH HEAL Initiative’s Program to Reveal and Evaluate Cells-to-gene Information that Specify Intricacies, Origins, and the Nature of Human Pain (PRECISION Human Pain). U19 Centers will operate as a cooperative network to promote collaboration and coordination of research activities. U19 Centers will also coordinate with the U24 HEAL Initiative: Human Pain-associated Genes & Cells Data Coordination and Integration Center that will curate, harmonize, and integrate datasets generated by this U19 research program.
