    • RRIDs for HPAP Donor Pancreas Biosamples: dkNET team and Resource Identification Initiate team collaborated with the Human Pancreatic Analysis Program (HPAP) to ??implement the Research Resource Identifiers (RRID) system to tag all PANC-DB donors in addition to using the HPAP IDs that were already in use. This would allow researchers to cite their source at a granular level, where they can cite not only the database, but the donors themselves. Now researchers can also find the information and track the use of these biosamples at dkNET Resource Reports: https://dknet.org/data/source/nlx_143929-1/search?q=HPAP&l=HPAP.?? Abstract Deadline: NMRI South Regional Workshop

More than 700 researchers have participated in NMRI workshops in the past decade, and approximately 100+ are active members. The success of the NMRI, a network that is “owned” by its members and supported by the NIDDK, begins with the dedication of senior investigators who mentor and serve as role models for junior investigators. The participation of active members and the recruitment of new members is a primary reason for the Network’s success in the past and the reason for confidence that it will continue to grow in the future.

    Abstract Deadline: September 27, 2021 (11:59 p.m. EST)

    Workshop takes place on Oct. 28 - 29, 2021. Register by Oct. 8, 2021

NIDDK Conference: Neurodegenerative Disorders and the Gut-Brain Axis: Parkinson's Disease

Each year approximately 60,000 Americans are diagnosed with Parkinson's disease and by 2030, nearly one million people in the U.S. will be living with the disease. Parkinson's disease symptoms are not limited to motor dysfunction and patients who develop Parkinson's disease often have a history of gastrointestinal (GI) symptoms, which may occur decades before the appearance of motor symptoms. There is a need for research on the neuropathological events in the GI tract that may provide insights into the disease origins and mechanisms associated with progressive neurodegeneration with the goal of developing innovative early-phase diagnostic tools or preventative therapies.

    Webinar takes place Sept. 30 - Oct. 1, 2021

    Register by Sept. 23, 2021.

NHGRI Funding Opportunity Letter of Intent Due: Molecular Phenotypes of Null Alleles in Cells (MorPhiC) Phase 1: Data Production Research and Development Centers (UM1 Clinical trials not allowed)

This FOA is one of three issued to create a new program called "Molecular Phenotypes of Null Alleles in Cells (MorPhiC)". The long-term goal of MorPhiC is to develop a consistent catalog of molecular and cellular phenotypes for null alleles for every human gene, using in vitro multicellular systems. The catalog will be made available for broad use by the biomedical community. The program will start with a Phase 1 to optimize available methods to create null alleles and measure their phenotypic effects in a target subset of 1000 protein coding genes across the program. Phase 1 will also assess the scale limitations of such methods, develop common data formats, establish “use cases” for this catalog, and inform whether and how a potential second phase will be implemented.  This specific FOA seeks applications for MorPhiC Data Production Research and Development Centers, which will develop diverse systems and assays and explore and compare approaches to produce MorPhiC data at scale, and to maximize its informativeness.

Letter of Intent Deadline: Sept. 15, 2021
