NIDDK KUH R25 Summer Undergraduate Research Virtual Conference

This meeting is the culminating experience for the undergraduate participants sponsored by the Division of Kidney, Urologic, and Hematologic Diseases Summer Research Program. The conference will bring all of the students together to share their research accomplishments, network with peers and distinguished faculty, and receive timely career development advice. This added exposure to professional and scientific opportunities in renal, urologic, and hematologic diseases will entice undergraduates to continue their medical or graduate careers in areas within the research mission of the Division. While typically an in-person event, this year’s conference will be held virtually. This meeting is open only to participants in the above Summer Research Program.

Registration Deadline: MMPC Isotope Tracers in Metabolic Research: Principles and Practice of Kinetic Analysis

The 13th Annual Isotope Tracers in Metabolic Research Course will occur this year with limited capacity. Attendees must meet the following criteria to be permitted into the course: 1) fully vaccinated against COVID-19, 2) reside in the U.S., and 3) submit a letter of intent. The Immunology of Diabetes Society (IDS) is dedicated to improving our understanding of the pathogenesis and treatment of type 1 diabetes. We invite you to the 18th IDS Congress which will be an in-person meeting in Nashville, TN, USA, on October 29th - November 1st, 2021.

At the Congress, scientists will present the latest research related to the immunology of type 1 diabetes. The meeting will also be a platform for discussions on rapidly evolving topics and will provide opportunity to interact with scientific colleagues. Application Deadline: Petabyte-Scale Sequence Search: Metagenomics Benchmarking Codeathon

The focus of the codeathon is creating publicly available resources that make it easy for scientists to compare sequence search methods across a standardized set of benchmarks and datasets. This event is part of a series bringing together a diverse group (biologists, bioinformaticians, statisticians, mathematicians, computer scientists, and engineers) of collaborators to develop and test new approaches for sequence search. Codethon projects will lay the groundwork for future events focused on methods development.

Throughout the online, interactive codeathon, participants will:

GUDMAP Jamboree 2021: Celebrating 15 years of the GenitoUrinary Development Molecular Anatomy Project

The GenitoUrinary Development Molecular Anatomy Project (GUDMAP) was established fifteen years ago to create a detailed molecular map of genitourinary tract development. In recognition of this milestone, this symposium will review GUDMAP accomplishments and discuss the future directions of the GUDMAP Consortium and its data resources.

We invite academic researchers and scientists in the biomedical community to join our celebration (via Zoom). This event features invited talks from external speakers; presentations from GUDMAP investigators showcasing their biomedical research and progress; relevant data, resources, breakout groups or discussions around key topics (e.g., bioinformatics, data quality), and tools available in the GUDMAP Hub for the broader communities at large; posters or lightning talks presentations from young investigators; and more.
