Species: Rattus norvegicus
Notes: GK rats, containing a region for susceptibility to development of type 2 diabetes between D1Mgh10-D1Rat110 on chromosome 1 were mated with normoglycemic F344 rats. Progeny were backcrossd onto F344 for 10 generations. Heterozygous animals were intercrossed to establish the congenic strain.
