Notes: Originated from a colony established in 1980 at NIH, animals were bred for 50 generations in a rotational outbreeding regime comprising of 8 inbred progenitors: BN/SsN, MR/N, BUF/N, M520/N, WN/N, ACI/N, WKY/N and F344/N; then to Dr. Eva Redei, Northwestern University (Chicago); 40 breeding pairs were sent from Northwestern University (Chicago) to Barcelona and 25 pairs to Dr. Solberg Woods, Medical College of Wisconsin
