Description: Core facility that provides the following services: Qualitative measure of neuronal death, Computerized image analysis. The goal of the facility is to assist UCC investigators in the use of cultured neurons, glias and organotypic cultures. The cultures are used for patch clamping after in vitro treatments with drugs of addiction or inhibitors and for in vitro models of neurodegenerative diseases. The core facility consists of a coordinator and a technician. Neuronal cultures are prepared from fetal cortex, hippocampus or astrocytes from cerebral cortex.
